If you’re in business, you alter people’s lives. And we don’t alter our lives for change, we alter our lives for progress. You can schedule posts all day long but if it’s not attractive, it’s pointless. Dean Lindsay, author of Cracking the Networking Code, The Progress Challenge, and most recently Big Phat Goals, explores this topic at the 2017 Rocks Digital Marketing Conference.
Are You Ready for Big Phat Progress?
So what is change and what is progress?
- If you’re single and meet someone new, that’s CHANGE.
- If you meet someone new that is better than your ex, that’s PROGRESS.
“Strong reasons make strong actions.” – William Shakespeare
You can give someone reasons all day long, but the only reason people will change is if they internalize the change.
What are actions you want people to take? Click, buy, like, follow.
Once someone has internalized enough reasons, they begin to view what you’re offering as progress. You want your stuff to be their goal. They don’t necessarily want your STUFF, they just want the results your stuff brings.
Everything we do, consciously or unconsciously, is seeking one (or a mix) of the six Ps:
- Pleasure
- Peace of Mind
- Profit
- Prestige
- Pain Avoidance
- Power
The more of those things you can address, the heavier the “reasons” get for people to want what you have.
Change is inevitable, Progress is a choice!
