How Rocks Digital Celebrated Social Media Day in 2020
Wow! 2020. Need we say more?
It was quite the year for everyone – businesses, families – and even for Rocks Digital. COVID protocols made a live Social Media Day conference impossible so, in the spirit of “we are all in this together,” the Rocks Digital Marketing Conference organizers decided to support an online event by Social Media Pro. This allowed us to help others in our industry, and it was a great way to celebrate Social Media Day this year.
Social Media Day Celebrations Around the World
In 2010, Mashable and then Victoria, Canada declared June 30th to be Social Media Day. Then in 2012, Lissa Duty decided that Social Media Day needed a full conference to celebrate, and the annual Social Media Day conference – DFW Rocks Social Media Day – was born. Later, to incorporate all aspects of digital marketing, DFW Rocks Social Media Day was rebranded to Rocks Digital.
Other social media companies and organizers had started celebrating the day as well with Tweetups, virtual gatherings and much more, but DFW Rocks Social Media Day was the first all-day social media conference to be held on Social Media Day – June 30.
Social Media Pro Celebrates Social Media Day, Too
Kate Buck Jr., founder of Social Media Pro, has also been a participant, speaker and celebrator of Social Media Day since the very beginning. In 2018, Social Media Pro hosted their first Social Media Day with an event as they live-streamed interviews with other Social Media Day celebrations from around the world – all while at the 2018 Rocks Digital Marketing Conference.
Social Media Pro’s 2020 virtual Social Media Day event was a full-circle experience for Kate. The mutual support that Kate and Lissa share with each other is cemented by their passion for social media, and sharing that passion with others.
Watch Lissa Duty’s Presentation on Increasing Your Search Ranking
As part of the collaboration with Social Media Pro, Lissa spoke about the connection between social media and ranking in search at their virtual 2020 Social Media Day Celebration. In the video of Lissa’s presentation, you will learn how to move social media followers to a business website – and then get them engaged once they are there. Each step she outlines will increase your ranking in search results, which will bring more people to your website.
You’ll also get to hear the story of how Kate and Lissa started celebrating Social Media Day, and where it all started for both of them.
