As a digital marketer you have to keep up with the rapidly changing environment of the Internet and all things digital, and to do this you need to be on top of the latest advances, news, and education. But where can you find the time to learn something new as a busy digital marketer?
Learning apps are the perfect solution for an easy way to learn while waiting for an appointment or during downtime and you can do it all from your mobile device. There are lots of apps to choose from so I narrowed the list down to 5 you definitely need to add to your arsenal.
Apps Digital Marketers Need To Add To Their Arsenal
1. Primer Pilot by Google
This app is a great on-the-go learning tool designed specifically for the digital marketing industry. It provides short (about 5 minutes) lessons on a variety of marketing topics with new lessons added weekly. There are lessons in their library to educate both new and experienced marketers. Primer Pilot makes it easy to find what you are looking for by breaking down the lessons under the topics of Advertising, Content, Measurement, and Strategy.
2. TED app
As you may have guessed by the name, this app gives you access to the entire TED Talks library with videos from thought leaders and innovators in many industries. While there are videos for pretty much anyone, it has a great collection of talks geared toward business, marketing and search with more being added all the time.
3. Quora
This app has the unique feature of users asking questions that others, presumably leaders in the given field, have answered. Another value add of this app is that you can not only learn, but also validate yourself as an expert in your niche by answering questions you know the answers to. I really like the fact that you can choose feed topics, like marketing and technology, to receive notifications when there are new stories/questions in those areas.
4. SlideShare
Although not initially, SlideShare is now owned by LinkedIn and was originally intended to share presentation slide decks for business use; however, it has now evolved to also included items shared strictly for entertainment purposes. This is a great place to find the slide decks of presentations on all sorts of topics including business, marketing and technology, but, beyond education, it is a place to repurpose any slide decks from presentations you have created. And not just slide decks; you can also upload documents, videos and podcasts to SlideShare. SlideShare also makes it easy for you to feature your presentations on your LinkedIn profile.
5. Podcasts for iPhone and Androi
Both the Podcasts and Stitcher apps are excellent for listening to your favorite podcasts while on the go. These apps make it easy for you to learn while driving, biking, walking or having lunch. Just pop in your headphones or turn on the Bluetooth in your car and you are multi-tasking at the highest level, especially when you are expanding your knowledge. With these apps you can create your own playlists of the types of podcasts or shows you want to listen to which makes it easy to find what you want quickly.
(Don’t forget to subscribe to the #RocksDigital podcast on iTunes)
These are just a few of my favorite learning apps because the information they provide is educational, but can also double as places where you can establish yourself as an expert in your field by submitting your own videos, lessons and/or podcasts to their sites for others to learn.
Do you have a favorite learning app? Please share the link so others can try it out!
