No matter if your company is big or small, creating customer touch points via email transforms the relationship between business and buyer.
Tips for Getting and Keeping Email Subscribers
These email subscribers essentially become a part of your business. Electronic communications can trigger buying, increase sharing and create trust, and email is said to be one of the fastest growing trends in 2017 (Content Marketing Institute, Forbes).
How to Get New Email Subscribers
1. Splash Page
If you’re just starting out and want to build your contact list, a splash page is a great way to gauge interest in your service or product and gain contacts. One great example is Myleik Teele of My Taught You. When Myleik proposed a retreat for her followers and wanted to gauge interest, she launched a splash page for interested parties to submit their email addresses. In one week, she received 500 subscriptions solely related to the retreat.
2. Free downloads
Another way to bolster communication with email subscribers is to create digital content like e-books and webinars that showcase your talent and credibility, and leverage the content in exchange for contacts. Find a topic that addresses a need for your existing and potential clients, provide the solution, and offer it on your personal website or LinkedIn in exchange for useful contact information like an email address.
How to Keep Email Subscribers
1. Relevant Content
One of the most crucial ways to keep your subscribers interested and engaged with you and your content is to provide information that is relevant to them. Continue to study pain points and provide solutions while working to be creative in your delivery. Also, don’t rely solely on the written word. Videos are one the fastest growing content marketing areas and it’s estimated that one minute of video is equal to 1.8 million words.
2. Make It Mobile Friendly
It’s been drilled into marketers’ heads for years that mobile readability is essential to websites, and this applies to email marketing as well. Be sure that your content is viewable on multiple devices and via different email services (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) because 80 percent of subscribers say they will delete an email that isn’t readable on their phone.
Any business needs a healthy email content strategy; however, the best content won’t help if you don’t have a healthy list of email subscribers. And, once you have them you have to keep them coming back.
