Whether it is in our business life or our personal life, the majority of us tend to focus on the future and worry about what may, or may not, happen. While this is a natural manner of thinking, if we allow it to consume our daily lives, we are not 100% present in the moment. If we are not present, we can miss important opportunities, chances to improve our work environment or miss something that could have a huge impact on our business. In order to win each day, we need to be 100% present.
Recognize the Opportunities to Win
Winning can take on a different form for each of us, whether it is landing a new account, getting a promotion or being assigned an important task at work. Whatever it is for you, in order for you to relish the accomplishment, you need to be present. When you are present, you allow yourself the opportunity to enjoy what you have accomplished and what is to come. There are many chances for us to win throughout our careers, but in order to do that we need to live in the moment and recognize an opportunity when it arises.
For those who tend to focus on the future they are not experiencing everything that is happening around them at this moment in time. They can be so focused on reaching a specific goal that they overlook the opportunities that are taking place right in front of them, now. While it is important to have goals, it is also just as important to live in the present. If we do not live and work in the present, it is likely that it will take longer for us to reach our long term goals and possibly miss an opportunity that would have helped us achieve them sooner.
Being Present + Success = Win
Winning at a happy and successful life is achieved through being present. Being present provides for:
- A clear mind to know what you need to do at this particular moment in time to win.
- Time to enjoy and celebrate each accomplishment you have made along the way.
- The opportunity to acknowledge how far you have come and all that you have accomplished.
Reaching your goals is a long-term process with many steps along the way. In order for your career to be one that can be celebrated and successful, be present now and take the time to think about how much you enjoy what you are doing and accomplishing in the moment. Doing this will allow you to keep your goals within reach, while not missing an important opportunity because you were too focused on the future and what may or may not happen.
It’s all about the present, do what you need to do now and don’t worry about what the future may hold. Learning to focus on and enjoy the present moment will be good for you and for your success, which makes it a Win-Win.
Whether you are just beginning your career or have been working for years, take the time to remember where you got started and acknowledge how far you have come. Comment below and share with us.
