Blog posts aren’t just meant to be written. They’re also meant to be read and shared, but what are the best social sharing websites? There actually isn’t any one “right” or “best” place. In fact, there are a number of websites where you can share blog posts and, many of them, unlike Facebook and Twitter, are often overlooked.
I am going to share with you three websites that are great for sharing blog post links that will get noticed, read and hopefully re-shared online.
Three Social Sharing Websites
1. Tumblr
You might think Tumblr is just a place for teens to share pictures in the hopes of getting feedback and shares. While it is true that Tumblr is an image-based site, it is also a site that gets around 300 million unique views on a monthly basis. This makes it a key place to share content.
The process is fairly simple. Take the most compelling detail from an article or blog post, and type it as text over a colorful image you have chosen to catch the attention of viewers. You then link your image to the full blog post on your website. The image with text on Tumblr acts as a “teaser” of sorts to get people to your sight where they can learn more about your business and the products or services you offer. You can also setup your blog to RSS feed into Tumblr through a third party tool like Dlvr.t every time you publish a new post.
2. Triberr
Triberr is a social network where you can join “tribes” (think old-school blog rings) and once in a tribe, you can join forces with other bloggers posting on similar topics. If you share their posts, they will share yours, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone. Plus, Triberr provides an easy way to compare your posts to the competition ensuring that yours are a slant above the rest and that your content is new and slightly different from everyone else’s.
One little tip about Triberr (and really for any place you post content): You must write quality content! If your content isn’t share-worthy, meaning it’s all marketing and doesn’t really present information that’s valuable and useful to the reader, it is not going to get noticed on Triberr or anywhere else for that matter. With that being said, however, good and original content will stand a good chance of gaining attention on Triberr.
3. BizSugar
If you have a small business or a business that markets to small businesses in any way, then BizSugar could be a great sharing site for you. BizSugar was created to help spread small business news and promote the small business owner and is a great place to be for up-and-comers.
Another tip for BizSugar as well as most other sites: Be sure to proofread all content carefully because errors and sloppy editing will send you to the bottom of the pile here and on most other sites.
The purpose in using social media is to drive website traffic, the purpose in blogging is so you have something to share on social media and search engines like Google have something to index. The more website traffic visitors you get and the longer they stay on your website, the higher your website is ranked in SERPs. Are you seeing a cycle here?
Time to get busy with your social sharing and add these three sites to your digital marketing strategy today.
